‘More Top-Siders than you could shake a stick at’

Stetson (incoming Bantam) e-mailed us to point out heavy ‘Cac references within Saturday’s post on The Daily Prep. Guest blogger “Sartre” and his daughter have taken the obligatory college road trip around the East Coast, and now dad has blogged their impressions. He also reflects on the moniker “New Ivy” and the state of the traditional Ivy.

In short, the blogger found:

-”Trinity is the ‘preppiest’” of the schools they looked at (‘More Top-Siders than you could shake a stick at’)
- “Colby has one of the prettiest campuses I’ve seen”
-Bates was too “artsy-lefty” for the daughter, though dad was pleasantly surprised
-Hamilton, in snowfall at the time, was “gorgeous”

Over a dozen readers have left comments, some critiquing the designation “New Ivy” and others giving shoutouts to their favorite small liberal arts schools.

Naturally, this comment from “Tom” was my favorite:

“My late grandfather was a Trinity grad, class of ’35. I have many fond memories of attending football games with him on a cool, crisp autumn day. He would always tell me I could attend an Ivy, but the best education you can receive is at the NESCACS. With that advice, I attended Hamilton. His wisdom, of course, proved true.”
