Bowdoin Alum Signs NHL Contract
(via Bowdoin Daily Sun)
Bowdoin alumnus Jon Landry ’06 has recently signed an NHL contract with the New York City Islanders for the 2012-2013 season.
During stints with the Colorado Eagles (ECHL) and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) over the past year, the Montreal native created an impressive record for himself as a two-way defenseman.
In a recent interview Landry said, “Although I may have taken the long route, I believe Bowdoin and my professional career has more than prepared me to take on this next challenge.”
Terry Meagher, Bowdoin men’s ice hockey coach, claims that this contract speaks to Landry’s “perseverance and hard work” by citing the fact that Landry was simultaneously earning his MBA at Glasgow University during part of his post-undergraduate hockey career.
In any case, we couldn’t be more proud of our ‘Cac alum and we wish him the best in the upcoming season!
Landry Scores the game-winning goal against the Hershey Bears on February 19 of this year.
