Basking shark or not…
A story that was on our radar (read, Twitter feed) in regard to it’s proximity to The Cape–or as I like to call it “the ‘Cac’s little mug hanger”–turns out to have hit even CLOSER to home. Yes folks, the all-knowing @swanklax has confirmed that the first-time kayaker captured eyeing a pursuing shark warily is a Connecticut College graduate.
Walter Szulc Jr. told The Boston Globe, one of many outlets to circulate the photograph by Shelly Negrotti (AP), “I paddled like there was no tomorrow, like my life depended on it…And it’s quite possible that was the case.”
The paper is now reporting the shark might be a benign basking shark, rather than a great white as previously believed–but riddle me this: do you think someone who spent 4 years defending his territory from the United States Coast Guard is going to take any chances on the high seas?
