Wes Alum Raises Over A Milli on Kickstarter
Heard of Amanda Palmer ’98? Her reach in the mainstream may be limited, but her loyal fanbase is fierce–and yes, she has a check next to her name on Twitter.

Palmer’s style is interactive and experimental, but when I curiously cued up ‘Who Killed Amanda Palmer’ (produced by Ben Folds) earlier today I was pleasantly surprised. The same woman who lay on a dining hall table in Middletown, nude and covered in blood, tapped into the part of me that still misses Gwen Stefani telling me to take my clothes off.
Reflecting on her highly successful Kickstarter campaign, Palmer told the NYT, “‘I have over $1 million of capital to manufacture a record that nobody’s heard … To me, that makes that entire pile of money look like a mountain of faith that my fans have in me, because they’re already on board with my music, my philosophy, my career. They’re on Team Amanda. That’s the kind of thing that a new artist can never do.’” Palmer is slated to come out with an album titled ‘Theatre Is Evil.’
And now that you know who she is, your fringe is just a little fringier.
Cue the Radiohead cover with ukulele accompaniment!
