Culture In The 'Cac Lifestyle

What should we ‘Cac me?

The NESCAC is in no way unfamiliar with small, exclusive microblogs that pop up every now and again written for and by the students at their school. These blogs are shifting now from being article and text based to being blogs filled with gifs and one sentence titles. If you haven’t heard or read the words gif and meme by now chances are you still use AOL as a browser and refer to the Internet as the World Wide Web (and not in an ironic way.)  Gif blogs have been around for a while, though not many outside of the realm of tumblr took notice of them. What Should We Call Me changed all of that by pumping out pages of these gifs on a daily basis.

WHEN I FIND A NESCAC GIF BLOG

When someone had too much to drink the night before, there was a link to a gif. When someone was frustrated with people at work or in their classes, there was a link to a gif. That’s about when the ‘Cac schools jumped on the bandwagon. Midd, Colby, Bowdoin, Tufts, and Hamilton were some of the first to make their own school specific blogs, which are all still fairly well maintained. Even we at In the ‘Cac have been updating our own gif blog since the very beginning (which you should totally check out.)

WHEN I TELL PEOPLE TO CHECK OUT MY BLOG

Skimming the sites gives you a sense of the things that entertain, annoy, and excite students in the ‘Cac. The problem that I’ve found with blogs like these is that they quickly die out. The end of the academic year is upon us and with people starting internships and summer jobs who knows how many of these blogs will make it to September.

WHEN PEOPLE SAY THEY LOVE INTHECAC.COM

Being a big fan of these blogs I really hope that the students running them don’t give up. I’m sure eventually the fad will die out, as fads do, but until then I encourage you to check out those different blogs for constant lolz and daily reminders that we’re all just one big happy, stressed, active, annoyed, and hungry family in the ‘Cac.
